Thimphu, Punakha and Paro Tour Overview

Bhutan, a Buddhist kingdom on the Himalayas’ eastern edge, is known for its monasteries, fortresses (or dzongs) and dramatic landscapes that range from subtropical plains to steep mountains and valleys. In the High Himalayas, peaks such as 7,326m Jomolhari are popular trekking destinations. Paro Taktsang monastery (also known as Tiger’s Nest) clings to cliffs above the forested Paro Valley.

Thimphu, Punakha and Paro Tour Itinerary

Day 1

Paro-Thimphu (Dist. 60 km, Time taken-02 hrs)

Upon Arrival at Paro, you will be received by our guide from Wangchuk Tours and Treks and will head to Thimphu, The Capital city of Bhutan. Check in to your prebooked Hotel. After some rest time to visit National Memorial Chorten (Lunch at your own cost)and Juensel Phodrang and free time to walk around Thimphu town. Dinner at your own cost.

Day 2

Thimphu

Today morning after breakfast visit to National Library, Arts and crafts school and Royal Textile museum (Lunch at your own). Later Afternoon visit Motithang Taking Preserve (Our National animal). Lunch at your own cost. Later evening explore Thimphu Town and visit Craft bazaar. Dinner at hotel at your own cost.

Day 3

Thimphu-Punakha (Dist. 150 kms, time taken-4.5 hrs)

After breakfast and check out from Hotel drive to Punakha across Dochu-la pass (3,088m ht.). The highest point on the road is marked by a large Bhutanese chorten and prayer flags fluttering on the hill. On a clear day, there is a breathtaking view over the high peaks of the eastern Himalayas from this spot. (After Lunch at your own cost) Visit Punakha Dzong, the winter seat of the Head Abbot, built by Shabdrung Ngawang namgyal in the distance by foot to one of the country’s largest suspension bridges, with more fine views up valley. (Optional: River rafting at additional cost). Dinner at hotel at your own cost.

Day 4

Punakha

In morning after breakfast take a short hike through the rice fields to a temple of fertility dedicated to the divine mad man. (Lunch at your own cost) Visit Wolakha Nunnery. Dinner at your own cost.

Day 5

Punakha-Paro (Dist. 120 kms Time taken 05 hrs)

After breakfast & checkout from hotel, drive and head to Paro. At arrival Paro lunch at your own cost. Post lunch visit to Ta Dzong (National Museum) and Paro Rimpung Dzong. Lunch at your own cost. Evening leisure to explore Paro Town. Dinner at your own cost.

Day 6

Paro

After breakfast hike to Taktsang ( Tiger Nest) and on the way back visit Kyichu Lhakhang. Lunch and Dinner at your own cost.

Day 7

Paro –Departure

After Breakfast drive to Paro airport for departure with beautiful memories.
